They say it's the little things that count and matters the most and it's so true!

The smile on my face, when my husband says “today we're just going to cuddle and watch movies”. That may seem like an every day thing, but that is the type of love language, we both embrace. Being in a relationship, life can get very busy and it can sometimes take away those moments.

Also, having a child, they like to hog the TV or jump in the bed! So getting those little things in, are so important for a happy and healthy relationship.

Here are some small gesture ideas, that may be useful for your spouse:

BE SUPPORTIVE OF THEIR PASSIONS

Having a passion for ourselves is a blessing, but imagine having someone to share it with? Someone who listens to every idea and embraces those visions or someone who has their own ideas to help you build on your dreams, your purpose and passion. Isn't that wonderful?

How to show support?

  • Be encouraging with your words and actions

  • Take time to understand their passion.

  • Be their comfort and strength, if things doesn't go to plan straight away.

  • Listen to what they're saying, but mostly importantly, listen to what they're not.

  • Be kind, be patient and stand in faith with them.

start the morning, with a nice warm beverage

Who doesn't look forward to a nice hot beverage in the morning?

Personally I prefer a tea, a hot chocolate or a herbal tea, but I'm sure a cup of coffee, is just as enjoyable! Especially when the weather is at the coolest temperatures and the thought of being tucked up under the duvet and snug in bed, it is pleasant to wake up to such sweet and fruity aromas.

Also, it is nice, having someone think about you, as much as themselves in the morning!

Show affection

There is no measurement to affection, because everyone displays and embraces it differently.

My husband loves having some sort of affection, whether; it's a tender kiss on the forehead or a warm and comforting hug. The giddy smile he reveals is so adorable and the sparkle in his eyes, just lights up my face.

Why is showing affection important?

  • It is like a gateway, that builds on; physical, mental and emotional connection

  • It can release tension and stress and bring relief and security

  • It can help, to maintain a positive relationship

However when it comes to affection, do not compare you and your spouse's type of affection to anyone else. Do what makes you both happy and find your own love language!

brigthen their day with a complimenT

Who doesn't love, a nice compliment?

Waking a up to “good morning beautiful” never fails to make me grin like a Cheshire cat, especially if I'm not feeling at my best, in that moment. There are days where self love and care can go out the window, but having someone; who can uplift you, hype you up and remind you, of the Queen you are and how beauty sits inside and out, is beyond treasurable.

What types of compliments can we give?

  • I see that you're trying your best and I'm so proud of you

  • You are amazing!

  • I love being in your company

  • You are beautiful inside and out

  • You never fail to make me laugh

There are so many flattering remarks, we can present our partners with. Words are so precious and they can fill us with hope and happiness. It kick starts our day and/ or provides that extra boost we never knew we needed.

Words mean a lot, so speak sincerity, kindness and life, into your partner.

BUY A THOUGHTFUL TREAT

Letting our spouse recognise, how much we care about them, is so important. It is not always about the materialistic things, it’s about attending to the needs of our spouse. Understand that our spouse has had a hard day or are feeling a bit low, the kind gesture of buying a thoughtful treat, can cheer them up so much.

It can also be a sign of gratitude. Being grateful for having them in your life and conveying; how much you value, understand and care for them.

My thoughtful treat for my husband is a lemon cake, with some custard! I don't think, I can go wrong there!

I hope you enjoyed these ideas! Let me know what small gestures you do or would do, in the comments below xx
