TYLER PERRY FILMS AND PLAYS

Heyy heyy!

Not sure if I've told you already but if I haven't, then I will let you in in a little secret...I am a very big Tyler Perry fan!

Tyler Perry, is an American Actor, known for screenwriting, producing and directing his own films and plays! What I love about him, is the way he incorporates his faith, his experiences, his wisdom and knowledge into what he loves doing and seeing it come to life on stage.

He has his very own style of filming that is unique, heartwarming and filled with so much truth.

So, here are my top films and plays! (In no particular order)

1. Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman

What I love about this film, is that it portrays the rawness and realness of relationships, through romance and comedy. The diary is about Helen (Played by Kimberly Elise) who goes through a tough marriage and divorce. Who best to guide her through and help overcome her troubles, than her loving and hardcore Grandmother Madea (ALos known as Mabel Simmons). Get your tissues ready, for the emotional rollercoaster!

2. Why did I get married

If you haven't seen why did I get married and why did I get married too, then I suggest you get onto it! Honestly, this film portrays marriage in such a way; that it fills you with wonder, with joy, sadness, with reflection and acknowledgement of the ups and downs, the harshness, the beauty and reality of real life marriages. It's a beautiful film, a romantic comedy for sure! It features many amazing artists, actors and actresses, and if you don't know who Marcus and Angela are, you are in for a treat!

3. Madea's Family Reunion

Ah my dear Cicely Tyson and Maya Angelou! Two beautiful, amazing and talented icons featured in this film. You know certain parts of the film, reminded me of life, before my Grandparents passed and how the family always came together. From the spoken word to emotional scenes, my heart strings were tugged! Watching this film, will show you what family is all about. Through the thick and thin, through the highs and lows, the past and present, this film will get you to act right and come together!

4. Tyler Perry- A Madea's Christmas (Play)

This is one of my favourite go to Christmas plays. Tyler Perry, does an excellent job at bringing the festivities to life. From the script to the stage, he brings nothing but romanticism and comedy. The music is powerful and every actor and actress does an amazing job. If you don't know about H-A-T-T-I-E, you're going to get to know and you will realise why I spent her name that way! What are you waiting for? Go check it out!

5. Madea's Neighbors from Hell (Play)

Ah this one! You will definitely need some tissues! This play is about a Foster Mother who moves into the neighborhood, with her not so polite Foster children. But you know Madea, she knows everyone and if she don't know you or suspects something about you, she will get to the bottom of it. Check it out and see what story she unravels with the new family in town.

6. For coloured girls

I kept seeing this pop up on my Netflix, until one day I took the time to watch it and I can say, it is definitely one of the best films by Tyler Perry. This movie goes in so deep, that the explosive poetic language, associated with each character, touches the soul with indescribable feelings. This film, is filled with admiration and inspiration. We see the different stories unravel, of how African American women are portrayed in society and honestly, each actress, plays their part to such high standards that you can literally feel what they're feeling. To understand the struggle and the strength that African American women are required to go through, you have to stop what you are doing and get this film playing.

7. I don't want to do wrong (Play)

If you love a good sing along, this one is for you. Music is good for the soul and the songs in this play, will uplift you for sure! This musical is about a woman, who is waiting for her husband to return from Iraq. She goes through a tempting situation, which leads to alot of family drama, a lot of hurt and realisation, that love and life, has it's ups and downs...

There you have it, a few selected Tyler Perry reviews! Let me know in the comments, what your favourite movies or plays are xx
