FAMILY SCRIPTURES AND PRAYERS

How else, can we be a blessing to our families? By praying for them.

It's so important to pray for and over our families. As we know, life comes with so many battles and we may not always know what they’re going through. However, if we can speak from the heart and have faith that situations can change, that breakthrough can come, that healing and abundance is around the corner, for someone we love, how can we not let God hear our prayers? How can we not share the goodness of what God can do?

Prayer and reading scriptures with our families, can break those natural and spiritual warfare. It can mend brokenness and bring round unity and restoration. The hope we carry and the love we put into those prayers, can help strengthen relationships and connections with God and with one another.

Sometimes we don't know what to pray for, but just asking God to cover and protect our families, is a beautiful place to start. Here are some family scriptures that can also be a guideline when praying for our families.

‭‭1 Thessalonians Chapter‬ ‭5, verse 18‬:

In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭Chapter 3, verse 13‬:

Bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭Chapter 13, verse 7‬:

Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].

‭‭Romans‬ ‭Chapter 12, verse 10‬:

[10] Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor;

‭‭Hebrews‬ Chapter ‭10, verse 24‬:

And let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds,

‭‭Psalms‬ Chapter ‭128, verses 2‭-‬3‬:

For you shall eat the fruit of [the labor of] your hands, You will be happy and blessed and it will be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine Within the innermost part of your house; Your children will be like olive plants Around your table.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ Chapter ‭13, verse 13‬:

And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for my family. I thank you for all that you have done, doing and yet to do in their lives. I pray that you cover them from the crowns of their heads, to the soles of their feet. Angels of the four corners of the world, please bless and guide my family on their in and outgoings. May you be their strength, their comforter and their fortress. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

To my family, I read: Numbers‬ Chapter ‭6, verses 24‭-‬26:

May the Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]; The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life]. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

I hope you find these scriptures useful. Remember that patience and understanding, are important in a family setting. There will be ups and downs, but I pray that; faith, love, strength, protection, peace, respect and gratitude, will be at the centre of it all.
